What is a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practicioner?
A health professional who has ben educated on the Equine musculoskeletal system in order to provide evidence based care to prevent injury or to work with your veterinarian to help your Equine partner to recover from an injury. Similarly to human medicine, Equine medicine is moving past rest as the only form of therapy. Research has demonstrated that to promote optimal healing, injured tissues must be cared for physically and loaded appropriately. Of course, the optimal scenario is one in which injury is avoided. Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioners are trained to assess range of motion and tissue quality to ensure pain free & optimal performance to avoid injury. After all, dysfunctional tissue is weak tissue.
To obtain this certification you must be a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or a Veterinary Technician.

As an avid rider myself, I understand how subtle changes in the forward tip of a shoulder blade, a shorter hip angle on one side, &/or weakness in part or all of the core musculature can make all the difference between riding in harmony versus having a frustrating ride.
